Our story began two decades ago when women came together to share their experiences and demand the legalization of midwifery practice. These passionate mothers experienced firsthand how pregnant individuals often encounter adverse medical practices and limited information during a meaningful and transformative experience. Fueled by a desire for greater respect and bodily autonomy, these feminine pioneers laid the foundation for what is now known as the Movement for Autonomy in Childbirth.
Our intention is clear: raise awareness, provide information and defend the rights and access to quality perinatal services. We believe in the power of community-driven initiatives, fostering dialogue, and prioritizing individual agency and well-being. Through sensitization, mobilization, and political action, we strive to create a world where every person can experience childbirth on their terms.
With the incredible support of women and families across Quebec, we have grown in size and strength to positively change government policies and improve the quality and access to perinatal services. Together, we defend autonomy in childbirth and reform the childbirth culture in Quebec.
